The demographic gap in the German labour market will widen even further in the coming years - with corresponding repercussions for economic growth and investment. While fewer and fewer young people are entering the labour and training markets here and in almost all European countries, there is huge untapped human capital and resources on the African continent.

Over the past months the legal framework has been modernised and designed to reduce bureaucracy and streamline procedures for skilled labour migration towards Germany. However, some hurdles and challenges remain, both on the recruiting side and the side of the candidates.

This Special Edition of the Working Group: Education & Qualification would like to explore the potentials of skilled labour migration from African countries to Germany:

•    What partnerships with African countries are in place?
•    What support services are available for German companies?
•    What best practice models in labour migration do already exist?
