We raise awareness of Africa.
The German-African Business Association (AV) maintains an ongoing dialogue with political stakeholders in Germany, the European Union and African countries. It regularly comments on key issues relating to Africa policy, represents the interests of German business vis-à-vis governments and institutions in Germany, Europe and Africa, and helps shape the framework conditions for successful business engagement by German companies in Africa. Furthermore, the Africa Association advocates for a realistic and nuanced view of Africa and a policy focused on opportunities.
In order to promote the business engagement of the German economy on the African continent and thereby bring about a lasting improvement in local economic prospects, AV is committed to
- better protection for business in Africa
- closer integration of development cooperation and foreign trade promotion
- improved financing options
- greater political support for German business in Africa
- greater political attention to the continent
- and the promotion of a more realistic public perception of Africa
AV represents the interests and concerns of its member companies through regular meetings and consultations with political decision-makers at state, federal and European level, as well as with high-ranking government representatives from Africa.
For over 90 years, the Africa Association of German Business (AV) has been supporting companies in their economic engagement across the African continent. With more than 400 members — from start-ups to DAX-listed corporations — we represent around 85 percent of German business activity in Africa.
